For Maricopa drivers, the useful question is which part of I-10 the trip actually uses. Match the direction and named roads to your route before deciding how the work affects your evening. A notice for one stretch does not describe conditions everywhere along the freeway.
If your trip also uses SR 347, OurMaricopa's live corridor traffic and cameras can help you check that leg separately. The local weather page is another useful stop before leaving. Check conditions while parked and allow some flexibility around appointments or a shift start; the published schedule does not provide a dependable number of minutes to add.
What crews are building
The bridge work is part of a replacement project that began in May 2024 and is scheduled to finish in late 2026. Plans call for three-lane bridges and approaches, full-width shoulders and a higher river crossing with deeper foundations. That describes the project being built, rather than a claim that the finished configuration is already available. Gila River bridge project
Farther along the corridor, the Gas Line Road–SR 387 project began construction in January 2026. It includes adding a third general-purpose lane in each direction, a new Seed Farm Road interchange and reconstruction of the Pinal Avenue interchange. The project page's timeline extends to mid-2028, so this week's lane limits are one short chapter in a longer construction schedule. Gas Line Road–SR 387 project
