Drivers who use Farrell Road on the east side of Maricopa should plan a different route Saturday.
The City of Maricopa says Farrell Road will be closed from Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway to Hartman Road from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. The scheduled work is micro-seal resurfacing.
The notice describes a closure, not a rolling lane restriction. Through drivers should choose another route before reaching the work zone and allow extra time.

The City told motorists to use an alternate route and expect delays. Its announcement did not publish a formal detour map, so drivers should follow the traffic-control signs placed for the work instead of assuming a particular side street will stay open.
People headed to an address along Farrell Road should give themselves additional time and be prepared for access instructions near the closure. The notice did not spell out property-access arrangements, emergency access or weather contingencies. Those details should come from the crews and posted signs on the day of the work.
Why the City is doing surface work now
The closure comes as Maricopa begins a broader fall pavement-preservation cycle. In a Sept. 17 overview, the City said cooler conditions are better for pavement work and identified several areas expected to receive treatment this season, including Honeycutt Road, collector streets in Alterra and Maricopa Meadows, and Desert Cedars.
Micro-seal is a pavement-preservation treatment. Saturday's notice is about maintaining the existing Farrell Road surface; it is not an announcement that the road is being widened or that a new traffic connection is opening.
That distinction matters because Farrell Road is also part of longer-range transportation conversations around eastern Maricopa. The only confirmed change for this Saturday is the temporary closure and resurfacing schedule in the City's dated notice.

Roadwork can move when weather, equipment or field conditions change. Before heading out Saturday, check the City of Maricopa's official notice and any posted signs at the closure.
