MUSD fall break is already underway, and the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center has a run of free activities that can help fill several days before students return to class.
The current Pinal County Library District calendar lists storytimes, a robotics session, a teen anime program, fiber crafts and reading appointments between Friday, Oct. 2, and Friday, Oct. 9. Some programs require registration, some offer tickets at the library, and a few were already full or closed to new bookings when this guide was prepared Wednesday morning.
The library is at 18160 N. Maya Angelou Drive. Families should check the live calendar before leaving because capacity can change faster than a printed schedule.
Friday, Oct. 2: storytime, fiber crafts and anime
The break's first Friday has three listings for different age groups.
5Up Storytime is scheduled for 4–4:45 p.m. for children ages 5–10. The event listing says registration is required. An adult registering should add participating children as guests, and children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Friday Fibers runs 4–5:30 p.m. for ages 14 and older. The library describes it as a space for knitting, crochet and cross-stitch, with basic beginner supplies available. Someone working on a larger or specialized project should bring the materials it requires.
The APOP Anime for Teens program is listed at 5 p.m. for ages 12–18. Use the event calendar to check the current end time and booking status before making plans.
Monday, Oct. 5: two programs already have limits
The calendar shows Computer Basics at 10 a.m., but the session was marked full during this morning's check.
A VEX IQ Robotics program for ages 10–13 is scheduled for 5–6 p.m. The event page says booking has closed. Those listings are still useful for avoiding a wasted trip, but they should not be presented as walk-in options unless the library changes the status.
Families can use OurMaricopa's community calendar to compare other local activities, but registration must be handled through the official event listing when a library program requires it.
Tuesday and Wednesday: activities for younger children and readers
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Toddler Time is listed at 9:30, 10 and 10:30 a.m. for ages 2–3. Each listing says children younger than 12 must have an adult with them. Parents should open the individual session they want because separate time slots can fill independently.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Babytime is listed at 9:30, 10 and 10:30 a.m. The calendar also shows afternoon Tales & Tails reading appointments. Several appointment slots were marked full Wednesday morning, while the 4 and 4:15 p.m. entries were not labeled full in the public listing. That is only a snapshot; confirm the exact slot in the live calendar before promising a child an appointment.
Thursday and Friday: preschool storytime and a second Friday lineup
Preschool Storytime is scheduled twice on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., for ages 3–5. The listing says no advance booking is required, but families should arrive early enough to get a ticket.
On Friday, Oct. 9, 5Up Storytime returns at 4 p.m., and Friday Fibers again runs 4–5:30 p.m. The storytime requires registration; Friday Fibers is intended for ages 14 and older.
The MUSD district calendar is the source for the school schedule. OurMaricopa's fall-break school guide has the broader return-to-school timeline. For the library itself, the City lists regular hours as 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with Sunday closed. The City's library page lists 520-568-2926 for questions.
Before heading out, check the Pinal County Library calendar, the local forecast and any registration email. A free event can still have a capacity limit, and “not marked full” is not the same as a guaranteed seat.
